To connect your Brother label printer to the CrisisGo GateKeeper, you first need to set it up properly.

Updated over 8 months ago

Before using CrisisGo GateKeeper with your Brother Label Printer, ensure that the following conditions are met:

Install the Brother Driver and P-touch Editor (Required)

1. Brother's All-In-One Installer (Recommended)

To install the Printer Driver and P-touch Editor, the recommended way is to use Brother's all-in-one solution. For more information, please refer to the official Brother Manuals page.

Go to the Brother website at install.brother. Then, follow their on-screen instructions to download and install the Software/Documentation Installer. Once the installer file has downloaded, double-click it, and then follow the on-screen instructions provided by the installer.

At the Installation Settings Information step, ensure you have checked both the "Printer Drivers" and "P-touch Editor 5.x".

Then, you just need to follow the on-screen instructions to complete your installation. Once successfully installing both the Printer Driver and P-touch Editor 5.x, please proceed to install the Brother b-PAC (32-bit ver.).

2. Manual Setup (Alternative)

If you find it difficult to install the necessary software using the above Brother all-in-one installer, don't worry; we provide step-by-step guidance here for you to complete the setup manually.

Install Printer Driver

Go to the Brother Label Printer (QL/TD) & Industrial Label Printer (TJ) download page, follow the instructions below to install the proper driver. For this guidance, we are using the Brother QL-820NWB as an example.

Before installing the downloaded driver, be sure to follow Brother's official 'How to Install' guidance carefully, paying special attention to the conditions mentioned in the 'Before downloading' section.

Install P-touch Editor 5.x

Go to the Brother Label Printer (QL/TD) and Industrial Label Printer (TJ) download page, select your model series, model name, OS family, and version, etc., then click OK, just as you did in the above Install Printer Driver section.

Next, on the Downloads page, scroll down to find the "Editor Tool" and follow the instructions below to finish the installation.

Install the Latest Brother b-PAC (32-bit) (Required)

1. What is b-PAC?

b-PAC (Brother P-touch Applicable Component) is a tool that allows users or vendors (such as CrisisGo) to send printing commands and data to Brother label or mobile printers. For more information, please refer to Brother's official b-PAC documentation.

2. Why CrisisGo GateKeeper needs b-PAC (32-bit)?

b-PAC provides the necessary interface for the CrisisGo app to send printing commands and data directly to your Brother Label Printers, enabling the printing of visitor badges generated by GateKeeper.

3. How to install b-PAC (32-bit)?

Please go to Brother official b-PAC webpage b-PAC Client Component Only (for Installation on Each End Users PC), then follow the instructions below.

WARNING: Make sure to download the 32-bit version of b-PAC 3.4.013, as CrisisGo only works with 32-bit version.

Once you have downloaded the b-PAC (32-bit) installer, double-click it to install. You will see a prompt displayed as follows. Wait for the installation to finish. Once itโ€™s finished, the prompt will close automatically.

Test Your Brother Label Printer (Required)

Once the Printer Driver, P-touch Editor 5.x, and b-PAC (32-bit) are installed, you need to test that the Brother Label Printer is functioning correctly before proceeding with CrisisGo GateKeeper.

Please refer to the Brother Official Manual page and download your printer's User Guide for instructions on how to print a label from your computer using P-touch Editor.

Connect to the CrisisGo GateKeeper

Once you have successfully tested your Brother label printer, please refer to the GateKeeper Front Desk Label Printer Setup Guide for instructions on how to use your label printer with CrisisGo GateKeeper.
